One of the first things we checked off the wedding “to do” list was the venue. As you can imagine, a venue sets the tone for the whole wedding – whether you’re going for a glamourous black tie affair, nautical vibes by the water, or my vision – an elegant and upscale farm/barn atmosphere.
Since it was pretty clear we (read: I) knew where we wanted to get married, we called The Barn at Gibbet Hill the first chance we could after getting engaged. Within minutes we had set the date (they only had a few left for 2017!) and we were off to the races.
A few of the ‘must-haves’ for us when it came to picking a venue (and Gibbet checked all the boxes) included:
- Great food
- Ceremony/reception space all in one venue
- Space to hold approx. 180 people
- Location – we wanted to be driveable from Boston
Below are some of the photos and inspiration I’d pinned of Gibbet over the years when I envisioned our barn wedding. Fingers crossed we’ll have some of the black angus cows roaming in the background during our ceremony on the lawn.
